Shopify's built-in inventory tools may be enough for core stock management. Supremo may fit Shopify-first merchants whose requirements match its verified workflows, including PO spreadsheet or CSV creation, supplier-invoice CSV import into linked PO and invoice records, three-way comparison of the invoice, PO, and received inventory, and Shopify customer-order pick, pack, and fulfillment. This guide is published by Supremo. It compares use cases and official vendor listings, not standardized independent product tests, and does not claim universal superiority. Recheck each product's current compatibility, features, and plan limits. Full comparison: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management-apps/ --- ## Reorder points A reorder point (ROP) is the inventory level at which a merchant should place a new purchase order with their supplier to avoid running out of stock before the replenishment arrives. **Formula**: Reorder Point = (Average Daily Sales × Lead Time in Days) + Safety Stock **Supremo's implementation**: Recalculates every SKU's reorder point hourly using real Shopify order data. Average daily sales is calculated from the past 30 days of actual orders (not forecast). Lead time comes from the vendor record in Supremo. Safety stock is a buffer set by the merchant in days, converted to units by multiplying by average daily sales. **Worked example**: A product has average daily sales of 8 units over the past 30 days. Vendor lead time is 7 days. Safety stock setting is 3 days. - Safety stock units = 8 × 3 = 24 units - Reorder point = (8 × 7) + 24 = 56 + 24 = 80 units - When on-hand stock at that location falls to 80 units, Supremo surfaces an alert for this SKU in the Reorder Analysis report. **Why reorder points matter**: A reorder point that is set too low leads to stockouts — orders cannot be fulfilled, customers experience delays, and the merchant may lose the sale permanently. A reorder point that is set too high leads to excess inventory, which ties up working capital in stock that is not moving. **Setting reorder points for multiple locations**: Supremo supports per-location reorder points. A warehouse serving a high-volume region may need a higher reorder threshold than a retail store serving low volume. Each Shopify location gets its own reorder point per SKU. Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management/reorder-points/ --- ## Safety stock Safety stock is extra inventory held to reduce stockout risk when actual demand or replenishment differs from the plan. It is a separate buffer within the reorder point, not inventory held above the reorder point. Reorder point = expected demand during supplier lead time + safety stock. **Common methods**: - **Days of cover**: Safety stock units = average daily demand × selected coverage days. This is a practical policy whose coverage days are chosen by the merchant. - **Statistical service level**: Estimates a buffer from demand variability during replenishment and a target service level. Oracle's replenishment documentation describes normal-distribution and Poisson approaches for different demand patterns. ASCM explains the relationship between variability during lead time and a service-level factor. Model choice depends on the demand pattern and assumptions; no single formula fits every product. **Supremo's implementation**: Merchants choose the safety-stock days. Supremo converts that setting to units using average daily sales: safety stock units = average daily sales × selected safety-stock days. This days-of-cover calculation does not statistically optimize the input or promise a statistical service level. **Worked example**: At 8 units sold per day and 3 selected safety-stock days, the buffer is 8 × 3 = 24 units. With a 7-day supplier lead time, expected lead-time demand is 8 × 7 = 56 units, and the reorder point is 56 + 24 = 80 units. Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/academy/what-is-safety-stock/ Methodology: https://www.getsupremo.com/how-it-works/safety-stock/ Reorder-point guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management/reorder-points/ --- ## Purchase order management on Shopify A purchase order (PO) is a formal document sent from a merchant to a supplier authorising the purchase of a specific quantity of goods at an agreed unit price. It creates a legal and operational paper trail linking a supplier shipment to a planned inventory replenishment. **Why PO management matters**: Without a structured PO workflow, merchants lose track of what was ordered from which supplier, when it was expected, and whether it arrived correctly. Discrepancies between ordered and received quantities go undetected. Landed costs (freight, duties) are not captured, distorting cost-of-goods. **Supremo purchase order workflow**: 1. **Create PO**: Select a vendor from the Supremo vendor database. Add line items: product, variant, quantity to order, unit cost. Set the expected delivery date. 2. **Send to supplier**: Click Send to generate a PDF and email it directly from Supremo. Or export to CSV and attach to your own email. 3. **Track status**: PO moves through five statuses — Draft (not yet sent), Sent (sent, awaiting fulfilment), Partial (some items received, PO still open), Received (all items received), Closed (manually closed by the merchant). 4. **Receive goods**: When a shipment arrives, open the PO and mark each line item as received. Enter the actual quantity received (which may differ from the ordered quantity). Shopify inventory levels at the receiving location update automatically. Partial receipts are supported — a PO can remain open for the balance. 5. **Handle discrepancies**: If a supplier ships fewer units than ordered, the variance is logged. The PO stays open as Partial until the backorder arrives or the merchant manually closes it. 6. **Landed costs**: Add shipping, insurance, duties, and handling fees to a PO. Supremo distributes these costs across line items proportionally and recalculates true cost-of-goods per unit. **Additional PO capabilities**: Duplicate any PO to reorder from the same supplier with the same line items. Cancel a PO if the order is no longer needed. Re-open a Closed PO if late goods arrive after closing. Export full PO history to CSV for financial review or ERP import. Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management/purchase-orders/ --- ## Inventory forecasting on Shopify Inventory forecasting is the process of estimating how much of each SKU to order from suppliers, and when, based on historical sales patterns, supplier lead times, and expected variation in demand. **Why forecasting matters**: Under-ordering leads to stockouts — lost sales and damaged customer relationships. Over-ordering leads to dead stock — working capital tied up in unsold inventory. Good forecasting minimises both outcomes. **Core forecasting methods**: **Moving average**: Average daily units sold over a rolling window (7, 14, or 30 days). Useful for stable demand. A 7-day average is more sensitive to recent shifts; a 30-day average is smoother. **Weighted moving average**: More recent sales are weighted more heavily than older sales. Calculated as: WMA = Σ(weight × sales in period) / Σ(weights). Useful when demand is trending strongly up or down. **Seasonality adjustment**: Compare sales in the current week or month to the same period last year. Multiply the current forecast by the historical seasonal ratio. Example: last July sales were 150% of the annual monthly average — the July order should be sized accordingly. **Safety stock buffer**: A reserve quantity added above the reorder point to cover forecast error and supplier variability. See Safety Stock above for the formula. **ABC analysis weighting**: A-class SKUs (top 20% of revenue) receive tight reorder windows and frequent review. C-class SKUs (bottom 50%) receive wide reorder windows and less frequent attention. This concentrates forecasting effort where it has the most impact. **EOQ (Economic Order Quantity)**: Calculates the order size that minimises total cost (ordering cost + holding cost). EOQ = √(2DS/H) - D = annual demand in units - S = cost per order (administrative, shipping fixed cost) - H = annual holding cost per unit (storage, capital cost, insurance, obsolescence risk) Worked EOQ example: A product has annual demand of 1,200 units (100/month). Each PO costs $20 to process. Annual holding cost per unit is $2. EOQ = √(2 × 1,200 × 20 / 2) = √24,000 ≈ 155 units per order. **Supremo's forecasting approach**: Supremo uses transparent, rules-based reorder point calculation — not AI/ML. It calculates reorder points hourly from live Shopify order data. The formula is: ROP = (average daily sales × lead time days) + safety stock. Every calculation is shown to the merchant. Supremo does not use a machine learning model. For AI/ML demand forecasting, Prediko and Fabrikator are the purpose-built alternatives. Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management/inventory-forecasting/ --- ## Multi-location inventory management on Shopify Multi-location inventory management is the practice of tracking, replenishing, and transferring stock across more than one physical location — whether that is a warehouse, a retail store, a fulfilment centre, or a third-party logistics provider (3PL). **Shopify's native multi-location support**: Shopify allows merchants to assign inventory to specific locations and fulfil orders from the closest location to the customer. However, Shopify's native admin does not provide per-location reorder points, consolidated multi-location reporting, or automated transfer suggestions. **Supremo's multi-location capabilities**: - Per-location inventory levels for every product variant - Per-location reorder points — each location has its own threshold, reflecting its individual sales velocity and lead time - Stock transfer creation and tracking between Shopify locations - Consolidated Inventory Valuation and Dead Stock reports across all locations - Stocktakes runnable per location **Common multi-location challenges**: *Imbalanced stock*: One location is overstocked; another is approaching its reorder point. The solution is a stock transfer rather than a new supplier PO — moving excess stock from the overstocked location to the understocked one. *Per-location lead time variation*: A warehouse close to a supplier may have a 3-day lead time; a remote retail store may need 10 days. Reorder points for the same SKU should differ by location accordingly. *Consolidated reporting*: The question "how much of SKU X do I own across all locations?" requires aggregating per-location inventory values. Supremo's Inventory Valuation report provides this across all Shopify locations. Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management/multi-location-inventory/ --- ## Inventory transfers on Shopify An inventory transfer is the movement of stock from one Shopify location to another within the same merchant's operation. It is distinct from a purchase order (which brings goods in from a supplier) and a customer order (which sends goods out to a customer). **When to use a transfer**: When one location has excess stock relative to its reorder point and another location is at or below its reorder point for the same SKU, a transfer is more capital-efficient than placing a new PO — the inventory already exists within the business. **Supremo transfer workflow**: 1. Create a transfer order: specify the source location, destination location, line items (product, variant, quantity). 2. Mark as In Transit when goods leave the source. The source location's available inventory decreases immediately; the destination's inventory is marked as "incoming" rather than "on hand" during transit. 3. Receive at the destination: mark the transfer received. The destination's on-hand inventory increases. Partial receipts are supported. 4. A full audit trail is maintained — who created the transfer, when it was sent, when received, and any quantity discrepancies. **Transit inventory**: Stock that has been sent from the source but not yet received at the destination appears as "In Transit" in Supremo. This prevents double-counting: the source no longer has the stock available; the destination does not yet. Accurate transit inventory tracking is particularly important for merchants with long inter-location shipping times (e.g. a mainland warehouse shipping to an island retail store). Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management/inventory-transfers/ --- ## Supplier management on Shopify Supplier management is the practice of building, maintaining, and measuring vendor relationships to ensure consistent inventory availability, accurate lead times, and competitive pricing. **Supremo's supplier database**: Each vendor record in Supremo stores contact information, lead time in days, payment terms, and minimum order quantities (MOQ). Multiple vendors can be assigned to the same product, allowing the merchant to choose between them for each PO or to use a primary/backup supplier strategy. **Lead time tracking**: Supremo uses the lead time stored on each vendor record to calculate reorder points. If a vendor's actual lead time changes — for example, shipping delays increase their average delivery from 7 to 12 days — the merchant updates the lead time in Supremo and all dependent reorder points recalculate automatically. **Vendor Performance report**: After each PO is received, Supremo records the quantity ordered, the quantity actually received, and the time from PO creation to receipt. The Vendor Performance report aggregates this data per supplier: on-time delivery rate, fill rate (units received / units ordered), and average actual lead time. This report provides objective data for supplier review conversations. **Supplier diversification**: Assigning multiple vendors to the same product in Supremo allows merchants to maintain backup supplier relationships. If the primary supplier is out of stock or has a delay, the merchant can quickly place a PO with the secondary supplier without re-entering product data. Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management/supplier-management/ --- ## Dead stock Dead stock is inventory that has not sold within a defined period and is unlikely to sell in the near future. It represents working capital that is tied up unproductively and warehouse space that is occupied without generating revenue. **Common causes of dead stock**: - Overbuying driven by over-optimistic sales forecasts or a promotional event that did not perform as expected - A product line discontinued by the merchant after stock was already ordered from a supplier - Seasonal products that did not sell during their season (winter clothing bought too late; holiday items unsold by January) - Slow-moving variants — an uncommon size, colour, or configuration within a product line that sells well overall (e.g. size XXL within a clothing range, or a niche colour that was ordered to complete the range) - Trend-sensitive products where demand evaporated after a trend peaked **The financial impact of dead stock**: Dead stock does not simply sit inertly — it actively costs the business. Capital is locked in inventory rather than being reinvested. Storage costs accrue (particularly for 3PL-warehoused goods charged by the pallet or cubic metre). For perishable, seasonal, or trend-sensitive goods, dead stock depreciates in value over time and may need to be written off or sold at a loss. **Supremo's Dead Stock report**: Identifies every SKU with zero sales movement over a configurable time window. Broken down by location. Shows quantity on hand per variant and the estimated value tied up at cost price. Sortable and CSV-exportable. **Actions merchants take on dead stock**: Price reduction or clearance sale to convert to cash; return-to-vendor if the supplier agreement includes a restocking or return clause; product bundling with a faster-moving SKU to create a combined offer; inventory write-off for goods with no recoverable value; donation to charity (which may provide a tax benefit). --- ## ABC analysis for Shopify inventory Full article: https://www.getsupremo.com/academy/shopify-abc-analysis/ ABC analysis is an inventory classification method that ranks every active SKU by its contribution to total revenue and divides the SKU list into three tiers — A, B, and C — reflecting the Pareto principle (the observation that roughly 20% of SKUs typically generate 80% of revenue). **The three tiers**: - **A-class** (~20% of SKUs, ~80% of revenue): The vital few. These SKUs generate the majority of the business's revenue and deserve the most attention. Tight reorder windows, precise safety stock buffers, frequent review, and strong supplier relationships are justified for A-class items. A stockout on an A-class SKU is far more damaging than a stockout on a C-class SKU. - **B-class** (~30% of SKUs, ~15% of revenue): The middle tier. Moderate replenishment focus. Standard review cadence. Worth monitoring for migration into A-class (an emerging trend) or demotion to C-class (declining velocity). - **C-class** (~50% of SKUs, ~5% of revenue): The trivial many. These SKUs contribute little to revenue but can consume disproportionate inventory management attention if treated identically to A-class items. Wide reorder windows, low safety stock, and infrequent review are appropriate. C-class items with long periods of zero movement are the primary candidates for dead stock review. **How to use ABC analysis on Shopify**: 1. Run Supremo's ABC Analysis report — it classifies every active SKU automatically using live Shopify sales data. 2. Start reorder point configuration with A-class items: set precise safety stock buffers, confirm lead times are accurate, and verify the vendor record is up to date. 3. Review C-class items for dead stock and discontinuation candidates. 4. Re-run the analysis quarterly — a SKU's class changes as its velocity changes. **ABC analysis and safety stock**: A-class items justify a higher service level target (98–99% in-stock rate) and therefore higher safety stock per the service level formula. C-class items can tolerate a lower service level (90–95%) and proportionally lower safety stock, reducing carrying costs on low-priority inventory. Supremo's ABC Analysis report is based on revenue contribution over a rolling period and is available on all plans including Free. CSV-exportable. **Full guide — what the article covers**: - Step-by-step ABC analysis process: export → calculate % contribution → rank → cumulative % → assign tiers - Worked example: five-product store with revenue, cumulative %, and tier labels shown in full - Three methods: manual spreadsheet (with formula), Shopify Analytics export, dedicated inventory analytics platform - Why revenue alone is not enough: margin, lead time, and demand volatility can make two equal-revenue products require completely different treatment - Comparison table: ABC vs. XYZ, FSN, Sales Velocity, Profitability, and Inventory Turnover analysis — what each measures, best use case, limitation - Per-tier inventory strategy: A (tight reorder, frequent review, stockout prevention), B (watch for tier migration), C (simplified replenishment, overstock risk) - Multi-location ABC: store-wide classification masks location-level demand differences - 10 common mistakes: revenue-only analysis, treating tiers as permanent, ignoring seasonality, uniform reorder strategy across all tiers - Northfield Goods example: 120-SKU store uses ABC to reveal near-stockout A-tier items and overstocked C-tier items - Advanced framework: combining ABC with reorder points, lead times, demand forecasting, and location-level stock for inventory intelligence --- ## Inventory reports in Supremo Supremo includes 8 built-in inventory reports, available on every plan (including Free), all CSV-exportable. ### 1. Inventory Valuation Current on-hand quantity × cost price per variant, across all locations. Provides total inventory value by product, by variant, and by location. Used for financial reporting (balance sheet inventory asset value), insurance valuation, and post-stocktake reconciliation. ### 2. Dead Stock Identifies SKUs with zero sales movement over a configurable time window (7, 14, 30, 60, or 90 days). Shows quantity on hand and estimated value tied up at cost price, by location. Sortable by value — allows merchants to identify the largest capital tied up in non-moving inventory first. ### 3. ABC Analysis Classifies every active SKU into A, B, or C tier based on revenue contribution over a rolling period. Provides the basis for differentiated replenishment strategy: tight focus on A-class items, streamlined management of B-class, and dead stock / discontinuation review for C-class. ### 4. Stock Movement A chronological log of every inventory change — sales, manual adjustments, stock transfer receipts, and purchase order receipts — per variant, per location, over a merchant-chosen date range. Used to investigate unexpected inventory variances and to provide a full audit trail for any SKU's inventory history. ### 5. Vendor Performance Aggregates purchase order fulfilment data by vendor: fill rate (units received ÷ units ordered), on-time delivery rate (POs received on or before the expected delivery date as a percentage), and average actual lead time compared to the set lead time in the vendor record. Used to hold suppliers accountable in review conversations and to update lead time settings when actual performance diverges from the configured value. ### 6. Purchase Order History A full log of every purchase order created in Supremo: PO number, vendor, creation date, expected delivery date, actual receipt date, line items, unit costs, total PO value, landed costs, and final status. Used for cost analysis, cash flow planning, and historical reorder reference. ### 7. Reorder Analysis Lists every SKU that is currently at or below its reorder point, ranked by urgency (days of stock cover remaining at current sales velocity). Shows the assigned vendor for each SKU, the suggested order quantity, and the current on-hand level. This is the primary daily operational report for purchasing decisions — it tells the merchant exactly which SKUs need to be ordered today, from which vendor, and in approximately what quantity. ### 8. Stocktake Variance After a stocktake is completed in Supremo, this report shows the difference between the expected quantity (system count based on recorded inventory movements) and the physical count recorded during the stocktake, per variant per location. Positive variance (found more than expected) and negative variance (found less than expected) are distinguished. Used to identify shrinkage patterns, systematic receiving errors, and data-entry gaps in historical inventory records. --- ## Stocky shutdown and migration Post-shutdown decision guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/academy/what-replaces-stocky/ There is no single one-to-one Stocky replacement. Shopify now handles basic purchase orders, receiving, transfers, adjustments, and reporting. Shopify-only merchants whose remaining need is structured purchase orders and calculated reorder points can evaluate Supremo. Merchants who need forecasting, marketplace synchronization, enterprise planning, or manufacturing should choose a platform built for that category. Shopify shut down Stocky on **August 31, 2026**. Shopify’s official migration guidance says merchants with remaining read-only access should export any data they want to retain. **What Stocky did** (for context of what a replacement needs to cover): Purchase orders and supplier management, reorder suggestions based on sales velocity and lead time, stock transfers between locations, inventory counting/stocktakes, and basic inventory reporting. It was free and built into the Shopify admin. **Export planning**: Follow Shopify’s official Stocky migration guidance to export the records you need before August 31, 2026. Also document the supplier contacts, lead times, product assignments, and settings you will need to recreate in the replacement workflow. Supremo does not offer a one-click Stocky import. **What can be exported**: Purchase order history (CSV), stocktake history (CSV), inventory valuation (CSV), ABC analysis (CSV). These should be exported from Stocky's Reports menu before the shutdown date. **How Supremo fits the Stocky workflow**: Supremo supports the core purchasing and inventory operations many Stocky merchants use: purchase orders, vendor management, formula-based reorder points, partial receiving, transfers, stocktakes, and inventory reporting. It is a dedicated Shopify app with a Free plan for stores with up to 100 products; it is not an AI forecasting system or a one-click Stocky migration tool. Full migration playbook: https://www.getsupremo.com/migrate-from-stocky/ Full Stocky alternative comparison: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management/stocky-alternative/ --- ## Comparisons ### Prediko vs. Supremo Prediko is an AI-powered demand forecasting and supply planning app for Shopify brands, priced by store revenue: $49/mo under $100K annual revenue, $119/mo under $500K, $199/mo under $2M, custom Enterprise above $2M. No free plan; 14-day trial only. Supremo is a transparent, formula-based reorder point and purchase order app priced by product/variant count: Free under 100 products (all features), up to $99/mo for unlimited. **Prediko is the better fit for**: Brands doing $100K+ annual revenue; in-house manufacturers needing Bill of Materials / raw materials planning; merchants running multiple Shopify stores; merchants who want AI/ML demand forecasting trained on external market data; merchants wanting built-in PO financing or 100+ WMS/3PL integrations. **Supremo is the better fit for**: Merchants under 2,000 products who want a transparent, auditable reorder formula instead of a black-box AI score; merchants who want to start free rather than paying revenue-scaled pricing from day one; merchants who need stocktakes/cycle counts alongside purchasing. Full comparison: https://www.getsupremo.com/comparisons/prediko-vs-supremo/ ### Assisty vs. Supremo Assisty offers four plans: Free ($0, 6 months data / 3 reports / 1 dashboard), Basic ($19/mo, full history / unlimited reports), Professional ($39–99/mo depending on Shopify plan level, adds dynamic replenishment engine and multi-location tracking), and Enterprise ($239/mo, Shopify Plus only, AI/ML demand forecasting + full PO automation + advanced buying calendar). All paid tiers include a 14-day free trial. **Assisty is the better fit for**: Merchants who specifically want AI/ML demand forecasting; Shopify Plus stores wanting an advanced buying calendar; merchants willing to pay for higher tiers to unlock full PO automation and multi-location tracking. **Supremo is the better fit for**: Merchants who want their free plan to include real reorder automation and PO management (not just reporting); merchants who want multi-location tracking without upgrading; merchants who prefer one flat price by catalog size rather than four feature tiers gated by Shopify plan level. Important note on Assisty's Stocky migration claims: Assisty's marketing describes automatic migration of suppliers and purchase orders from Stocky. This should be verified directly with Assisty — Shopify's own Stocky documentation states supplier records cannot be exported to any third party in any format. Full comparison: https://www.getsupremo.com/comparisons/assisty-vs-supremo/ ### Best Stocky alternatives roundup | App | Best for | Starting price | Free tier | |-----|----------|----------------|-----------| | Supremo | Transparent reorder logic, full PO workflow, Shopify-native | Free | Yes, all features | | Sumtracker | Multi-channel sync (Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Walmart) | $49/mo | No | | Prediko | AI demand forecasting, DTC brands at scale | $49/mo (scales with GMV) | No | | Fabrikator | PO automation with backorder management, AI-driven | $99/mo (scales with revenue) | No | | Assisty | AI forecasting with a free starting tier | Free / $19/mo | Yes, basic | | Katana | Merchants who manufacture their own products | Custom | No | Full comparison: https://www.getsupremo.com/comparisons/best-stocky-alternatives/ --- ## Where Supremo does not compete - **Multi-channel sync**: Supremo is Shopify-only. It does not sync inventory across Amazon, Etsy, eBay, or Walmart. For multi-channel sync, Sumtracker is the recommended alternative. - **AI/ML demand forecasting**: Supremo uses a transparent rules-based reorder formula, not machine-learning models. For AI/ML forecasting trained on large external datasets, Prediko or Fabrikator are alternatives. - **Barcode scanning**: Supremo does not support barcode scanning for receiving or stocktakes. Pair with a dedicated barcode app if that workflow is essential. - **Manufacturing / Bill of Materials**: Supremo does not support BOM, production scheduling, or raw materials tracking. Katana is purpose-built for Shopify merchants who manufacture their own products. - **ERP-adjacent enterprise features**: Supremo is designed for Shopify-native merchants up to approximately 2,000–5,000 SKUs. Very large operations with complex ERP integrations, multiple storefronts, or advanced supply chain requirements may need a more enterprise-grade solution. --- ## Frequently asked questions **Q: What is the best Shopify inventory management app?** A: There is no universal best. Shopify's built-in inventory tools may cover basic stock management. Supremo may fit Shopify-first merchants whose requirements match its confirmed purchase-order CSV, supplier-invoice comparison, and customer-order fulfillment workflows. Merchants with multi-channel, forecasting, manufacturing, or advanced warehouse needs should compare the exact capabilities of systems designed for those workflows. **Q: What happened to Stocky?** A: Shopify discontinued Stocky. Feature development ended July 7, 2025. It was removed from the App Store February 2, 2026. It shuts down entirely August 31, 2026. After that date, all data in Stocky becomes permanently inaccessible. **Q: Is there a free Stocky replacement?** A: Yes. Supremo's Free plan is permanently free (not a trial) and includes all features for stores with up to 100 products and 2,000 variants. Assisty also has a free tier with more limited functionality (reporting only on the free plan). **Q: How do I migrate from Stocky to Supremo?** A: Full playbook: https://www.getsupremo.com/migrate-from-stocky/. Key steps: (1) Export PO history, stocktake history, and inventory valuation from Stocky's Reports menu as CSV before August 31, 2026. (2) Manually document every supplier: name, contact, lead time, products, MOQ — this data cannot be exported from Stocky in any format. (3) Install Supremo, re-enter vendor records, and set up reorder points. (4) Run Supremo in parallel for 2–4 weeks before fully cutting over. **Q: Can I get my Stocky data back after August 31, 2026?** A: No. After the shutdown date, Stocky stops working entirely. Any data not exported or documented before that date is permanently gone. **Q: What is a reorder point?** A: A reorder point is the inventory level at which a merchant should place a new purchase order to avoid running out of stock before the replenishment arrives. Formula: ROP = (Average Daily Sales × Lead Time in Days) + Safety Stock. Supremo calculates this per SKU hourly using live Shopify order data and shows the exact formula behind every alert. **Q: What is safety stock?** A: Safety stock is extra inventory held to reduce the risk of a stockout when demand or replenishment differs from the plan. Safety-stock methods include days of cover and statistical service-level calculations. Supremo uses a merchant-selected days-of-cover method: safety stock units = average daily sales × selected safety-stock days. The merchant chooses the coverage days; Supremo does not statistically optimize this input. Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/academy/what-is-safety-stock/ Methodology: https://www.getsupremo.com/how-it-works/safety-stock/ **Q: What is supplier lead time?** A: Supplier lead time is the elapsed time between placing a purchase order and receiving the ordered inventory. Keep a supplier's quoted lead time distinct from actual delivery history, and use consistent start and receipt milestones. Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/academy/what-is-lead-time/ Methodology: https://www.getsupremo.com/how-it-works/supplier-lead-times/ **Q: What is dead stock?** A: Dead stock is inventory that has not sold within a defined period and is unlikely to sell. It ties up working capital and occupies warehouse space. Supremo's Dead Stock report identifies zero-movement SKUs by location, with quantity on hand and estimated value tied up. **Q: What is ABC analysis?** A: ABC analysis classifies inventory SKUs into three tiers by revenue contribution: A-class (~20% of SKUs, ~80% of revenue), B-class (~30%, ~15%), C-class (~50%, ~5%). A-class items get tight reorder windows and close attention; C-class items are candidates for dead stock review and discontinuation. Supremo's ABC Analysis report classifies every SKU automatically. **Q: What reports does Supremo include?** A: Eight built-in reports on all plans (including Free): Inventory Valuation, Dead Stock, ABC Analysis, Stock Movement, Vendor Performance, Purchase Order History, Reorder Analysis, and Stocktake Variance. All CSV-exportable. **Q: Does Supremo work with multiple Shopify locations?** A: Yes. Supremo tracks inventory levels and reorder points across all Shopify locations, supports stock transfers between them, and allows per-location reorder point configuration. **Q: Does Supremo work with Shopify POS?** A: Yes. Supremo syncs inventory with all Shopify locations, including POS locations. **Q: Does Supremo support barcode scanning?** A: No. Supremo does not include barcode scanning for receiving or stocktakes. Pair with a dedicated barcode scanning app if that workflow is required. **Q: What is the reorder point formula Supremo uses?** A: ROP = (Average Daily Sales × Lead Time in Days) + (Average Daily Sales × Safety Stock Days). Average Daily Sales is calculated from the past 30 days of actual Shopify orders. Lead Time and Safety Stock Days are set per vendor in Supremo. The formula recalculates hourly. **Q: How is Supremo's forecasting different from Prediko or Fabrikator?** A: Supremo uses a transparent, deterministic formula (average daily sales × lead time + safety stock). Prediko and Fabrikator use AI/ML models that incorporate external signals and statistical distributions. Supremo's approach is fully auditable — the merchant can see exactly why each alert fired. AI/ML approaches require sufficient sales history to be reliable and are better suited to higher-volume merchants. **Q: Can any app automatically import supplier data from Stocky?** A: No. Stocky provides no export path for supplier records to any third party. Supplier data must be manually re-entered regardless of which replacement app is chosen. --- ## Shopify purchase-order management from reordering to fulfillment Workflow guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/shopify-inventory-management/purchase-order-to-fulfillment/ This guide connects inventory demand, reorder planning, suppliers, purchase orders, incoming inventory, receiving, supplier invoice checks, available stock, customer orders, pick lists, and fulfillment. It defines the separate roles of a purchase order (what the merchant agreed to buy), a receipt or linked inventory transfer (what physically arrived), a supplier invoice (what the supplier billed), a customer order (what the buyer purchased), and a pick list (what warehouse staff collect). Shopify currently supports native purchase orders with Draft and Ordered states. A linked inventory transfer can track shipments, receiving, partial quantities, and cost adjustments; receiving progress is tracked on that transfer rather than as additional PO statuses. Shopify's order-printing documentation includes pick lists; customized print documents can use Shopify Order Printer. Supremo supports supplier-invoice CSV imports that create linked PO and invoice records, followed by three-way matching across the PO, receipt, and invoice. Purchase orders can also be created from spreadsheet or CSV data. For Shopify customer orders, Supremo supports pick lists, picking, packing, and fulfillment, with the resulting order and fulfillment status syncing back to Shopify. This confirmed order workflow does not imply a full WMS. Barcode scanning for receiving or stocktakes is not supported; barcode-assisted order picking, wave picking, and bin routing are not confirmed. Use a Shopify-focused inventory app when the gap is reorder logic, supplier lead times, POs, receiving, invoice checks, inventory transfers, or Shopify customer-order pick, pack, and fulfillment workflows. Evaluate a dedicated WMS if advanced warehouse execution features such as wave picking or bin routing are required, and verify any unconfirmed workflow with the vendor. This guide is educational and does not rank one product as universally best. ## Best purchase order apps for Shopify (2026 buying guide) Full guide: https://www.getsupremo.com/academy/best-purchase-order-apps-shopify/ A comprehensive buying guide (~22 minutes) comparing every major Shopify purchase order app across 27 criteria. Written for Shopify merchants who sell physical products and need to manage supplier relationships, incoming stock, and inventory levels — not just sales orders. --- ### Why PO management is harder than order management on Shopify Shopify handles outbound orders (sales to customers) natively. It does not handle the inbound side: purchase orders to suppliers, partial receipts, backorder tracking, landed cost accounting, or reorder point automation. Every Shopify merchant above a basic volume eventually needs a dedicated system for the purchasing side of inventory. The guide explains why PO management has more operational complexity than most merchants expect: - Supplier shipments rarely match the ordered quantity exactly — partial receipts require the system to keep the PO open for the outstanding balance - Landed costs (freight, duties, insurance, handling) must be allocated across PO line items to calculate true cost-of-goods, not just the invoice price - Reorder triggers need to account for lead time and safety stock — ordering when you are already out of stock is too late - Multi-location merchants need to route POs to the correct receiving location and update per-location inventory on receipt --- ### Apps evaluated The guide evaluates apps across four categories: **Full inventory management platforms** (purchase orders plus reorder, transfers, stocktakes, reporting): Supremo is the primary example. **Stocky-style native tools**: Shopify's own legacy tools and basic admin PO features available after the Stocky shutdown. **AI/ML demand planning apps with PO generation**: Prediko, Fabrikator — apps that generate PO suggestions from machine-learning forecasts rather than a transparent formula. **Dedicated PO-only tools**: lighter-weight apps focused on PO creation and sending without broader inventory management. --- ### 27-point comparison table (key criteria) **PO creation and sending** - Draft PO before committing - Assign to vendor from stored vendor database - Send as PDF directly from the app vs. export-only - Email supplier from within the app **Receiving workflow** - Full receipt with automatic Shopify inventory update - Partial receipt (PO stays open for balance) - Backorder tracking and PO re-opening - Quantity discrepancy logging **Landed costs** - Add freight, duties, insurance, and handling to a PO - Proportional allocation across line items - True cost-of-goods recalculation **Vendor management** - Stored vendor database with contact details - Lead time per vendor (used for reorder point calculation) - Multiple vendors assignable per product - Vendor Performance report (fill rate, on-time rate, actual vs. configured lead time) **Reorder triggers** - Manual only vs. formula-based alerts vs. AI/ML suggestions - Transparency: can the merchant see why the alert fired? - Hourly recalculation vs. daily vs. manual refresh **Multi-location** - Per-location inventory update on PO receipt - Route PO to specific receiving location - Per-location reorder points **Reporting** - PO history export - Vendor performance metrics - Reorder analysis (which SKUs to order today, from which vendor) --- ### Six-step evaluation framework 1. **Map your current workflow end-to-end** before evaluating any app. Document every step from "we are running low" to "new stock is in Shopify". This surfaces the specific capabilities you actually need vs. the ones that sound useful. 2. **Test the receive-goods flow** with a partial shipment scenario. Most apps handle full receipt well; partial receipt with backorder tracking is where they diverge. This is the workflow most likely to break. 3. **Verify landed cost support** if freight is a meaningful cost line. If you import goods internationally, the invoice price is not your actual cost-of-goods. Apps that cannot capture landed costs will systematically understate your inventory valuation. 4. **Confirm multi-location routing** if you operate more than one Shopify location. Check whether the app updates the correct location's inventory on receipt, not just the "default" location. 5. **Check what triggers a reorder suggestion** and whether that logic is visible to you. A formula-based approach (ROP = daily sales × lead time + safety stock) is auditable. An AI/ML score is not — you cannot tell why it fired or whether it is appropriate for your specific SKU. 6. **Validate the vendor performance reporting** against your supplier review cadence. If you review suppliers quarterly, you need a report that aggregates fill rate and on-time delivery over that period. Check whether the app actually provides this before committing. --- ### Supremo's position in the guide Supremo is the recommended fit for: - Shopify-only merchants wanting a complete PO workflow (create, send PDF, partial receive, landed costs, backorder management) - Merchants who want reorder alerts driven by a transparent formula (ROP = average daily sales × lead time + safety stock) rather than a black-box AI score - Merchants who want to start free: Supremo's Free plan includes the full PO workflow for stores with up to 100 products - Merchants who need stocktakes, stock transfers, and 8 built-in reports alongside purchasing — not just PO creation Supremo is not the right fit for: - Multi-channel sellers (Supremo is Shopify-only — no Amazon, Etsy, or eBay sync) - Merchants who specifically want AI/ML demand forecasting (Prediko and Fabrikator are purpose-built for that) - Merchants who need barcode scanning for receiving (not supported in Supremo) --- ### FAQ highlights from the guide (22 questions covered) -
